Overview

The Copenhagen lamp series by Space Copenhagen for &Tradition was borne from the desire to design a lamp with a simple industrial feel, but which was still elegant and poetic. The Copenhagen Series is an exercise in contrasts. Combining the classic and the modern, the maritime and the industrial. The series started with one pendant in three sizes in 2014 and was extended in 2018 with two table lamps, one wall lamp and one floor lamp. Choose a cosy reading corner or desk, add the Copenhagen table lamp and you instantly have an ambience with elegance. The opal glass shade emits a soft ambient light, with a dim-to-warm dial on base, starting point is 2800K, ending at 2200K. It’s the technology reflecting the latest Nobel Prize findings about our inner clock and being in sync with the various phases of the day for a better sense of wellbeing. A customized, built-in LED module ensures energy efficiency. The lamp shade is made from mouth blown opal glass and the base and stem are made from deep drawn and extruded metal.

&Tradition reworks design icons from past masters and creates tomorrow’s classics in collaboration with contemporary designers, upholding the tenets of craftsmanship to produce furniture, lighting and accessories that meet modern needs for function, comfort and beauty.

Space Copenhagen

Established in 2005 by Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, Space Copenhagen is a design studio working across multiple disciplines from furniture, lighting and refined objects, to art installations, art direction and interior design for private homes, hotels and restaurants all over the world. The ambition is to forge new paths by balancing opposites — classic and modern, industrial and organic, sculptural and minimal, light and shade. Duality and contrast. Curiosity as a fundamental human condition. The studio’s intuitive approach creates designs that are distinctively shaped by the given circumstances, functional needs, and a fundamental interest in human behavior. It is a sense of belief in slow aesthetic that centers quality and longevity.
