Overview

The Allegretto, designed by Atelier Oï for Foscarini, brings all the wonderful theatricality and magical harmony of the Allegro project to the home and to contract spaces, with proportions and volumes designed on a smaller space. An entire family of hanging lamps that take on their shape thanks to the force of gravity, created with metal lines that design the light and emit sounds when they touch. The collection name is inspired exactly to this “musicality”. There are three versions, according to the finish of the metal elements, to express three different styles: the Allegretto Ritmico in graphite, the Allegretto Vivace in copper and the Allegretto Assai in gold. The Allegretto lamps can be used as the visual centre of an environment, instead of a traditional ceiling lamp, or to complement the larger Allegro models in a project that is coherent in its concept and realisation and free to be customised.

Foscarini imagines, develops and produces decorative lamps: night and day, whether they’re on or off, they seduce, surprise and inspire. Foscarini lights are conceived as design objects that transform spaces: we bring beauty, we stir emotions. Since 1983, the company’s collaboration with international designers and mastery of lighting resulted in a long list of design icons integrated into domestic or collective environments globally.

atelier oï

atelier oï was founded in 1991 in La Neuveville, Switzerland, by Aurel Aebi, Armand Louis and Patrick Reymond. The name oï, derived from the Russian word “troïka”, a team of three, conveys the dynamism and holistic energy generated by a trio. The founders’ deep involvement with architecture, design and naval construction, as well as the encounter with charismatic personalities such as Alberto Sartoris and Ettore Sottsass, have shaped atelier oï ’s philosophy. It strives to go beyond the confines of a single discipline. On an international scale its work ranges from architecture and interior design to product design and scenography. The starting point of the creative process is often the material: its nature, its potential affinities, its reaction to external stimuli and its interaction with other materials. The material is explored or adapted with an untiring curiosity in the pursuit of knowledge and discovery. atelier oï’s team has won numerous national and international awards.
