Overview

The Bamba Sculpture Table was designed by Pedro Paulo-Venzon for Spanish brand Viccarbe. The Bamba Sculpture Table perfectly represents the symbiosis of sculpture and balance. Composed of a metal tabletop and a base _a circle and two metal rods_ that evokes the “slashed O”, the emblem of Brazilian designer Pedro Paulo-Venzon. This table is revisiting Brazilian design's high modernism period and reinventing the tradition of Brazilian furniture. For custom colors, please contact us.

The Bamba Sculpture Table is part of the Viccarte collection, a collection of artistic pieces, designed without the pressure or the furniture market requirements, sculptures rather than furniture pieces. These pieces must be used accordingly, taking into account that they are not subject to the same tests as regular furniture pieces.

Viccarbe manufactures contemporary furniture created by the most prestigious international designers. Diversity is a core value of the company's artistic choices, translating into multifaceted, warm and timeless designs. Viccarbe is located in Valencia, Spain, where the exceptional sunlight bears a great influence on the expression of colors, the warmth of materials and the attention to detail which characterize the Viccarbe aesthetics. Sustainability is at the core of Viccarbe's approach: high quality long lasting furniture that can be repaired, use of FSC or PEFC certified wood and/or 100% recyclable polypropylene, local sourcing of materials preferred, no use of aerosols or contaminated metallic materials.

Viccarbe guarantees the product quality throughout all its manufacturing process and all products components when they have had an adequate use for their specific characteristics. The warranty is valid for 5 years (detail of the warranty available upon request).

In a 2016 article, Monica Khemsurov of Sight Unseen refers to Pedro Paulo-Venzon as the hip new face of Brazilian Design: “[...] why the work of Pedro Paulo Venzon is so exciting: He’s the first young up-and-coming Brazilian designer we’ve seen who’s totally nailing the delicate balance between paying homage to the legacy of his forebears, and developing an aesthetic that’s new, cool, and relevant to the international contemporary scene.” Pedro Paulo Venzon knew he belonged in the world of objects since he was a child, thanks to a carpenter father and seamstress / artisan mother. He has been making furniture, objects and artifacts in the city of Florianópolis since he graduated from school in 2011. His concern is to create pieces that arise from a decolonial reading of the discussions surrounding contemporary and modern design in Brazil. His inspiration: “a contemporary rereading of the elements of Brazilian design’s High Modernism period: the use of metal, the minimal lines, the simplicity. My design is “iterative” in a sense that retakes and transforms. My objective has been to rethink the traditions of Brazilian furniture — by designers such as Flávio de Carvalho and Lina Bo Bardi — and develop pieces that carry historical characteristics, but in an impure or hybrid or “mestizo” manner. “ Since 2011, when he finished his academic studies, he has received important prizes on the Brazilian and international design scene. In 2016 he was a finalist in the “Officine Panerai Next Generation Designer”, and in 2017 he took part in the Handmade Issue promoted by Wallpaper Magazine.
