Overview

The Mantis series of lamps was created in 1951 by Bernard Schottlander. Influenced by the famous sculptor Alexander Calder, Bernard Schottlander imagined the Mantis series like sculptural lights infused with movement. Both an artist and an engineer, Bernard Schottlander used a clever system of counterweights and flexible steel bars to create the iconic lines of the Mantis lamps, which he completed with the recognizable asymetrical aluminum shade. The beautiful Mantis Wall Sconce is a re-edition of Bernard Schottlander design by Paris based DCW éditions. The thin stem and slight curve of the tiltable aluminum shade make this piece look as if it is weightless. This iconic piece will work with a variety of decor styles.

DCW Editions is a French design brand specializing in lighting. Best known for the Lampe Gras, a re-edition of the iconic 1921 lamp, they draw inspiration from the past to create chic and timeless quality lights, designed to last.
