Overview

The basket and bowls collection in iron wire by Antonino Sciortino for Serax has become a decoration must have in Europe. The eclectic Sicilian designer plays with metal and colors. The designer's touch is visible in the finish of the baskets, painted with a brush before being aged meticulously. The Edo Fruit Plate, with its large dimension, can also become a centerpiece. It will bring a casual modern touch to the room decoration.

Serax Philosophy is to look for beauty everyday, “to bring the good things that make life worth living, the things that create a home that inspires happiness”, to offer products that have soul. Every collection is crafted traditionally.

Antonino Sciortino

Antonino Sciortino was born in Palermo, Sicily. At the age of eight, he began to learn the blacksmith's craft in his the family workshop. At the same time, he started to attend dance school in Palermo, where he would lay the foundations for a successful career as a dancer and choreographer. In 2003 he moved to Milan, and began a new artistic adventure, characterized by the constant research, in the processing of iron, of that ethereal lightness typical of dance. Sciortino's creations use "cotto" wire, a particular type of iron, which he manipulates in a crescendo of graceful, dancing lines, transforming it into true masterpieces. Developing a recognizable eclectic craftsmanship, the creative and imaginative Sicilian has designed an exclusive collection of tables, side tables and iron bowls for Belgian brand SERAX. These metal objects are like sculptures, with the soul and vintage look typical of Sciortino’s work.
