Overview

The SHIKA Large Coffe Table was created by design studio A+A Cooren for COEDITION. Through their minimal, simple Japanese-French design aesthetic, the duo behind A+A Cooren seeks to integrate subtle references to nature in the everyday interiors and objects they create. This coffee table features two oval-shaped tabletops supported by a slender metal structure, with the lower tabletop slightly larger than the upper one. The design creates a sense of strength and lightness, characteritic of the whole SHIKA collection, which consists of three coffee tables, two side tables and two desks. The SHIKA Coffee Table will work well in living rooms next to the sofa or in reception areas.

COEDITION is curating a collection of modern and creative French furniture from internationally acclaimed designers, with a focus on quality and know-how. The collections are made in Italy in state of the art factories. They are the result of exhaustive research, meticulous and diligent development and technical innovations. The products all share the characteristics of effortless sophistication. They are suitable for residential and commercial projects. Notable examples include the New Eiffel Tower chair designed for the Gustave Eiffel Pavilion and the Scala collection designed for the Rivea restaurant by Alain Ducasse in Las Vegas.

A+A Cooren

A+A Cooren is a Paris-based Franco-Japanese design studio founded by a couple, Aki & Arnaud Cooren. The design studio’s speciality is lighting, but A+A Cooren has also worked in industrial product design, furnishings and interiors since 1999. With a signature Japanese-Nordic aesthetic that is at once streamlined and poetic, the studio subtly seeks to bring an element of nature back into everyday objects and interiors. A+A Cooren designs both traditional and industrial objects, guided by a design philosophy nourished through ceaseless exploration of manufacturing simplicity and end-user ease of use. A+A Cooren believes that designing a good product is the result of mutually supportive teamwork between the manufacturers or craftsmen and the designers, with exacting fabrication standards. Their creations are produced by Artemide, CFOC, Habitat, Metalarte, La Redoute, Tronconi, Vertigo Bird, Yamagiwa, and more. They also designed the Shiseido Europe flagship store in Paris (2002), L’Oréal’s Haircare Research Centre in St.Ouen (2011) and the renovation of the Sèvres gallery at Paris’ Cité de la Céramique (2013).
