Overview

The Penrose Table is a large dinner table designed by Berlin based designer Hayo Gebauer for French design house La Chance. The design is inspired by the geometric research of mathematician Roger Penrose and his famous impossible triangle. Depending on the point of vue, the legs overlap or blend to form shapes with three, four, or five legs. The glass top (clear or neon pink) shows the solid wood base assembled with traditional mortise-tenon joint technique. The result is a sculptural piece with brutalist inspirations enriched with luxurious finishes and the natural beauty of noble materials. The rich solid wood is stained in soft orange, pale pink, and dark blue in the colored version. The result is a powerful yet subtle piece, true to the designer conceptual vision. The natural version is more toned down and uses 3 variations of the wood: bleached, oiled, and black stained for a softer and quieter color palette.

La Chance offers a contemporary take on the French ornamental and decorative tradition rooted in the Art Deco period. The creations of La Chance share a sophisticated, rich and singular approach to design, using only noble materials. La Chance works with highly qualified artisans demonstrating superior craftsmanship. Through the use of long lasting materials and traditional technics, La Chance is producing sustainable furniture. Wood is sourced from sustainable FSC approved forests and restricted to European species.
