Overview
The swiveling shade allows to direct the light cone where needed. The lampshade is available in eight finishes. The lamp has a manual rotary switch on the dome and the switch and dome are in black bakelite.
Midgard was founded in 1919 by the engineer Curt Fischer. Midgard constructed the first articulated steering lamps, a true innovation at the beginning of the 20th century. The story of Midgard is associated with the Bauhaus movement. Right from the start, Fischer focused his full creative attention not just on each lamp as a whole but on every single one of its components. In architecture and product design, the avant garde was taking much of its impetus from the urge to modernise traditional ways of doing things. When the Bauhaus moved into its new buildings in Dessau in 1926, Midgard lamps were part of the interior. Masters and students alike found their precise, machine-like aesthetic both modern and motivating.
