Overview

The Umanoff Candle Holder, an original mid-century modern design in brass and walnut was created in the 1950s by Arthur Umanoff and is being re-launched by Danish brand MENU with five other pieces. The sleek shape of the Umanoff Candle Holder is crafted from solid walnut, tapered to a point, and suspended from a polished brass frame that will patinate beautifully over time. Designed to hold a single candle, its characterful silhouette brings personality wherever it is placed. Typical of Arthur Umanoff’s approach to design, his namesake candle holder is sleek and functional: Arthur Umanoff believed that design should not only be beautifully constructed and functional, but that it should also be attainable.

MENU is a Scandinavian design house, harnessing the skills of top designers and craftspeople in Scandinavia and around the world to create contemporary design that is clean, clever and natural. These principles culminate in an aesthetic called soft minimalism. Together with its Danish Modernist roots, this concept serves as a foundation for designers to unite heritage with a fresh vision for modern living, reimagining mid-century modern values.
